Stampede Reservoir

Last weekend we made it out camping with our good friends the Jeffers to Stampede Reservoir (up in the mountains past Truckee). Kennedy and Riley pretty much played in the dirt the whole time. I love it when they can entertain themselves with dirt! I think I did about 7 loads of laundry today of dirt.

By mid-day it was pretty hot, but the reservoir was pretty cold without one ounce of shade in sight. The kids had fun wading around and playing on the shore while I tried to keep the redhead babe out of the sun. Tim and Brad floated on their turtle taxi tubes for a long time. I even got a ride!

Grant was a trooper for his first experience camping! A neighbor told us that it got into the 30's the first night we were there...WOW! that was cold. Taylor threw up in the middle of the night, just to keep things exciting. And I have to say that nursing in the dark on an air mattress in the freezing cold is something I never thought would be added to my talents list. We survived :)

Grant's first time touching a lake--he didn't like it much. PS: cute farmer's tan, huh?

The girls were bottle cap scavengers. They are holding up their treasures here. Taylor found 23 "cap lids" (as Riley called them) by the end of the trip. They were so excited to see the different letters and stars and colors on them. Brinley was pretty sure that the "BL" stood for Brin Ley...too cute.

The girls were coloring at a picnic table in the afternoon and a deer came up to the end of the table where they were sitting and sniffed some watermelon....a DEER! Needless to say, the deer were pretty tame and used to being fed by campers. We saw lots of deer the rest of the trip strolling through and near the campsite.

This says it all. We were taking a pic with the deer behind the girls, but as soon as the deer turned around my girls were out of there!

Thanks for a fun trip Jeffers.
