Swimming Girls

This year we took private swim lessons with our friend Jenny. Taylor worked on improving her strokes and Kennedy went from HATING to go underwater to swimming on her OWN in 6 days. Teacher Jenny is a miracle worker!!

Jenny used a kind of "survival" swim lesson technique. She starts kids at 18months and they are all swimming on their own in 6 days. Kenna pretty much screamed for me the entire first day, as well as the rest of the kids for their own moms. Most mornings she would wake up with a tummy ache, nervous for what she knew was coming every day. She was very brave and has conquered her fear of the water! It's pretty hard core, but with Kennedy being 4 1/2 years old and not loving swimming, we were VERY excited with the results!!

While the other kids rotated through the teacher the kids and parents were encouraged to hang out in the pool and stay cool. Grant and I got some good swim time in too.

Taylor is a great swimmer and even started to learn some of the "butterfly" stroke. She had fun swimming and we've joined the local YMCA to swim nearly every day. It's the only way to beat the heat out here. I think it hit 110 degrees every day last week! It doesn't cool down at night much either....so swimming it is!

Aww, I think I went to one of their lessons with you and your mom last year. I miss having you close. I'm so glad Kennedy is getting it!
