Point Lobos Hike

This weekend we made a trip to Monterey for Kaden's blessing. While we were there Hilary and Brian took us on a nature hike to Point Lobos. It was a beautiful walk through the forest and next to the coast (near Carmel).

No one fell off the steep cliffs...which is a miracle. The trail was literally next to drop-offs straight down to the shore. It was a beautiful day!

Kennedy loved to spot the sea lions and was a trooper walking that far.

Poison Oak lined the trail. Good thing my Dad (poison oak EXPERT) came along to point out each dangerous branch. I don't think I would've noticed.

Point Lobos was an old cove where they used to "harvest" oil from whales. They had a little museum and some really cool whale bones (behind us).

The girls found an amazing tree to climb.

That night we checked into a hotel (the girls slept like rocks). Tim had scored a free night at the Hyatt. We woke up feeling like we were in Hawaii. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the weather in Monterey. I took a walk Sat. morning up and around the beach by myself. Did you hear that...by myself! This does not happen much. I think I would live outside if I was a resident. We also went to the famous Aquarium and spent some time trying to celebrate Mom's birthday too! What a nice trip!

sounds like a great time! good thing you have tim to steer you away from the poison ivy.... i didn't really notice it either, until last summer, when i learned the hard way that it's all over my backyard!

I love going on outdoor hikes, it's even better when you have an amazing view to look at, I don't think that I would have handeled the drop offs tho. I'm glad that you guys got a great trip and a deal at the hotel.
